Frickity, Frick Frick!!

So now it is Friday night and still no couches!! We were supposed to get our new furniture on Thursday during the day. (we have been very antsy to get them since we have been sitting on the floor to watch TV for the last week) Well, first we get a call on Thursday saying that they will be delivered much later than they originally told us. THEN when they delivered the couches there was a ginormous tear in the back of it. They told us if we wanted to keep it anyway they would give us a discount. We contemplated it, since the tear was in the back and could be easily hidden since it would be against a wall. How much of a discount, you ask?? Oh, it was a whoppin' $30!!! So we chuckled at them a little bit and told them they could take it back.

Next they tell us that they don't have a time slot to deliver until Monday! So Chris got on the phone with someone and caused some havoc and they told us we would have it Friday (today) by 7:30. We felt so relieved when we got a knock at the door. They got start brining in all the pillows and what not and they brought up the first half and smallest part of the sectional. Chris told them to be extra careful on the way up and was watching them very carefully around all the corners. Well they got it about half way up the stairs and, AWESOME! ANOTHER TEAR! This time it was all the way across the front. Sooooo, we had to send it back....again. And had to raise some hell with a phone rep....again. And we are stuck waiting until tomorrow night for our furniture....again.

I was going to post some pictures of them, but that will have to wait until tomorrow (hopefully) I could take a picture of our "half couch" but Chris is so frustrated at this point I don't think he would find any humor in it. :)

BIG Little Boy!

Landon had his 4 month appointment yesterday...

He is 18.16 pounds (93%)
26.5 inches long (91%)

His pediatrician said that he looks very healthy and is "very proportional" which I guess is good since he weighs a lot. That way we know that he is growing all over and not just gaining a bunch of weight. We have started him on solid foods and so far we haven't found anything that he won't eat, which doesn't surprise me considering he puts EVERYTHING in his mouth!

Room for changes...

Chris and I are in the process of getting new furniture, and to do so, we had to sell our old furniture. And right now the stuff we sold has already been picked up, and the stuff we bought has not been delivered yet. So we are sitting in a pretty vacant house as far as our living room is concerned, which just so happens to be the place we spend most of our time. So.....we decided while we have everything out of the way we would add a few touches here and there to make our living room just a tad bit more appealing. We started with the molding, (0r base boards, whatever they are called) we both really like tall base boards and since ours were in DESPERATE need of being repainted we figured we would make them nicer all together. Our old base boards were about two inches tall and now our new ones are about six inches tall. It's not much of a change but it's crazy how just little things here and there can make quite a difference! Here are some a couple of pictures. It's kind of hard to tell since it's just a picture of wall, but it gives you and idea.

God Bless America....

Exactly one year ago today, Chris and I found out that I was pregnant! Last year made for a pretty exciting and memorable 4th of July... which could really only be topped by this year's 4th having Landon here with us. We went to see fireworks and it was so much fun to watch Landon's eyes light up at the site of all the lights in the sky. We thought the sounds might scare him, but he just stared up at the sky with wide eyes. Like an idiot, I forgot our camera of course and I am kicking myself now that we didn't get any pictures of the three of us. As we were watching the show I was thinking, that I have had some pretty fun experiences on the 4th. I have spent many with friends, and been to shows like the Stadium of Fire. I have spent it on the beach in Portland, where they shoot fireworks in to the sky off a boat out on the ocean. And I have watched them in NYC as they set them off over the Hudson. But none of them compare to the 4th of July I had tonight. I had my husband next to me, and my son in my lap... and I have never felt more blessed.

Landon's Blessing

We blessed Landon yesterday and I thought I would post some pictures for those of you who couldn't attend. It was such a neat thing to watch Chris blessing Landon. I was replaying the words in my head all evening yesterday and I am amazed at how much of it I can remember. There were 5 babies being blessed and I was struggling to hear the ones who went before us. I could barely hear half of what they were saying so I was really worried I would have a hard time hearing Chris when it was Landon's turn. Amazingly enough, I could hear every word loud and clear. I have witnessed many baby blessings, but never my own child's and it was a really special experience.

Tasty chicken nuggets

I thought I would pass along another recipe my sister had me try out. It is home made chicken nuggets and not only are they addicting, but they aren't full of all kinds of animal parts and what not like the ones at McDonalds. I made them about two weeks ago and Chris loved them, and we have had them about three times since. (I know, I need to try more recipes so we don't eat the same things all the time)

Here is the link:

Happy eating!

7 weeks and growing!

Here are some of the latest pictures of Landon. He is getting SO big! He is sleeping through the night now and smiling all the time, we love it! We were amazed to find that he is the biggest baby in our ward his age, but he is happy and healthy and that is what matters.

Guilt-free frosty..shake thing!

If you read this, you have to PROMISE me that you will try this tasty treat! My sister shared this easy recipe with me and Chris and I have made one every night since. (okay, let's be honest here, we made it twice last night. I guess when if you make it 5 times a day it defeats the purpose of it being low in calories) It takes about 3 minutes to make and the best part is that it is only like 30 calories! You need one small package of sugar free, fat free, Jello pudding mix. ( it doesnt have to be fat free, but the fat free kind is only 25 calories, and the regular is like 180 calories) You can use any flavor, we had the cookies and cream kind last night and tonight we tried the banana cream flavor and it has been my favorite so far. You will also need the light whipped cream that comes in a tub, stick in the freezer so that it sets up. I have just been keeping it in my freezer so that I will always have some frozen when I need it. (Which will probably be every day from the looks of it.)

So this is all it takes:

1 small pudding mix in any flavor you desire
1 cup skim milk
1 tray of ice cubes
1 scoop of frozen cool whip

Mix in the blender until it's all smooth, serve, and enjoy!

Note: be sure to serve it right away, if you leave it sitting the pudding will start to set up and it ruins the consistency.

Hooray for the Snugli!

For those of you who do not own a snugli, go to the store right now and buy one. If you don't have a baby yet, carry your dog around in it or something, it's bound to work for it too. We were given two different ones as gifts (one regular one, and one JEEP brand one that looks really manly, Chris was pretty happy about that) Well, Landon has these "fussy episodes" like clockwork from about 6:00-7:30 every day. That just so happens to be right around the time that I am trying to make dinner, and Chris is trying to work but Landon insists on being held, otherwise he screams. Since Chris is in the office doing call reviews and such, we can't have him screaming in the background, so Chris decided to bust out the snugli one evening. HALLELUJAH!! Landon loves it! In fact, I think he likes being in it more

than being held because he has yet to fuss or cry when he has been in it. Chris just straps in on every day and sits at his desk and carries on with work as usual, giving me some free hands to make dinner and clean up around the house a little bit. Most times he ends up falling asleep, in that case we turn him around in it so he can sleep against Chris's chest. Right this very moment, Chris is wearing the snugli with Landon just chillin' in it while he plays playstation. (talk about quality time right there)

Mom was right....AGAIN.

I can remember many, many times my mom telling me, "Just wait 'til you have kids" or " When you are a parent you will understand." And you know what mom, YOU'RE RIGHT! As I am sure many of you mom's out there can relate to, I find myself standing over Landon's crib listening to make sure he is breathing. Or waking out of a dead sleep in the middle of the night by the tiniest little grunting sound. (When he was first born, I seemed to think that holding him through the entire night was a guaranteed prevention from SIDS.) I find myself eyeing questionable looking strangers who even look in my baby's direction and always have this fear that if I turn my back I could turn back around and Landon could be gone, or someone might be breathing on him or touching him with dirty hands or something. Anyway, you get the point. I just never knew that PARANOIA was part of being a mom! And now looking back on all the times I was late for curfew, or didn't leave a note telling my mom where I was, or left the house with some crazy looking friend that my parents had never met...I am actually quite surprised that my mom didn't deck herself out in camoflauge gear, follow me everywhere and hide in the bushes with binoculars watching my every move! I now understand what it is to worry. And as Landon gets older and I am not worrying about SIDS anymore, I am more than certain that worry will be turned to "Don't fall off your bike!" or "Who is that boy with green hair that you have been hanging around with??!"
So... I think I owe my Mom a sorry and a huge THANKS for being a mom that worried about me. And who knows, for all I know, maybe she did follow me everywhere and hide in the bushes with binoculars. You know that's where I am going to be in about 16 years!
